When this is attempted, one of two things happens:
- First Roller – You get the large straight on the first roll. This is, mathematically, uncommon, but it seems to become a lot more common after already having a large straight or after having put a zero in the category.
- The Last One - This is where you have 4 out of the 5 numbers you need to get a large straight. If you have small straight open, you’re safe to take the chance; usually, though, the succession of rolls will end up with a useless duplicate number, or a gap such as     .
And when you add in colored die for Yahtzee,
then I have trouble taking you seriously then there’s a whole new dimension of agonizing die arrangement.
